U.C. Berkeley Student Athletic Facility and Tree-Sit Dispute
Client: University of California. Berkeley
Activists occupied several tall trees for close to 2 years to protest the university’s proposal for a new $140 million athletic facility. BLUHON provided essential communication between the parties to reduce conflict and bring the standoff to a non-violent resolution.

Gilead House for Women
Client: City of Novato
Local residents opposed and appealed the approval of a transitional home for women, proposed by a non-profit ecumenical organization, Gilead House of Marin County. BLUHON convened a multi-party mediation with the project proponent and appellants and resolved concerns through substantive design changes and the drafting of an operations agreement.

Outback Housing Project for Seniors
Client: City of Berkeley
Affordable Housing Associates (AHA) of Berkeley faced strong opposition from neighbors to its proposed affordable senior housing project. BLUHON mediated the dispute through substantive changes to the parking design and building size.

Temple Beth El Relocation
Client: City of Berkeley
The City of Berkeley retained BLUHON to mediate a dispute between the Congregation Beth El and the neighborhood. Following a series of plenary sessions and many caucus sessions, a revised site plan and facility operations agreement emerged and opponents withdrew their appeals.

San Rafael Rock Quarry
Client: County of Marin
A Marin County Board Supervisor asked BLUHON to conduct a confidential mediation between neighbors opposed to proposed expansion of operations of this historic rock quarry.
